The Turkish-operator will connect to Interoute’s pan-European fibre optic network, with both companies outlining resiliency on networks as a key driver behind the partnership. Turkey’s importance, both as a gateway in developing regions of the Middle East and Asia to Europe and the rest of the world, in addition to its advancements in next-generation technology has increased significantly over the past few years.
Its connection with Interoute, which will provide the operator with dedicated bandwidth, is expected to serve its customers with better data and voice services both locally and internationally.
“With our ‘transforming silk road to the fibre road’ vision we’re building a bridge between the Middle East and Europe through Turkey, with our investments adding value to Turkey, CIS and Middle East regions,” said Murat Erkan, CEO at Turkcell Superonline. “Interoute has the most advanced and dense network in Europe, providing the flexible and competitive pricing that will help us to achieve our goal of bringing high speed, next-generation access to these regions.”
Erkan believes, with Turkcell’s partnership with Interoute, in addition to the company’s involvement in the Regional Cable Network (RCN) project, the company is heralding a bigger drive to develop terrestrial networks in the Middle East.
Renzo Ravaglia, EVP Service Provider at Interoute said Turkey’s growing importance in the European telecoms ecosystem made its partnership with the network provider even more necessary. “It is essential that Turkey’s network is protected and fortified for future European business demands,” he said. “Due to its unique position, Turkey has become a natural business hub in Europe.”
