Capacity reported in November that Tata was set to secure an interconnection with a major carrier to form what it claimed was an unrivalled telepresence offering.
It was speculated at the time that the deal would be with AT&T, as Tata had already established individual agreements with BT, Telefónica, Verizon, Deutsche Telekom and Orange Business Services.
Tata aims to provide the world’s widest reaching telepresence network through interprovider agreements and public telepresence rooms. Included in its offering are B2B video services, cloud-based services and managed services.
“To help the telecoms industry meet the requirements of enterprises as the growth of business video continues, there needs to be collaboration and openness amongst service providers”, said Peter Quinlan, VP, integrated business video services at Tata Communications.
“The agreement with AT&T is the latest step in our strategy to make business video a truly global collaboration tool for enterprises, regardless of network, service provider or location.”
Tata also interconnects with its partners in the Global Meeting Alliance initiative, which includes Safaricom, Telstra, Etisalat, Qtel, Mobily, Sprint, Glowpoint and Telus.
“AT&T is working closely with a number of service and technology providers in the industry to enable more pervasive and global video collaboration capabilities without borders,” said Alan Benway, executive director of AT&T Business Solutions. “The interprovider agreement with Tata Communications is another step in that effort, broadening access for AT&T Telepresence Solution customers as they look to collaborate through even more endpoints globally.”
