The equipment vendor has claimed it will be O2’s sole supplier, and deployment has already commenced.
Providing an Evolved Packet Core (EPC), it will serve as the core network for the LTE system, and address 100% of O2’s network.
Ericsson will be providing the LTE compatible core network, in addition to deploying RBS 600 multi-standard radio base stations for 50% of O2’s radio access network in the UK.
Both companies did not disclose the value of the contract.
