The partnership is expected to allow higher network speeds for the Kuwaiti operator and respond to the growing demand for 3G services in the country.

Under the terms of the contract, the largest the European vendor has signed to date in Kuwait, Ericsson will upgrade Wataniya’s existing 2G and 3G networks, as well as adding WCDMA/HSPA capability on 900MHz and LTE capability on the 1800MHz band.

Wataniya Telecom recently partnered with CSG International for its wholesale billing management solutions.
