The company expects the LTE technology to provide end-users with superfast data services, allowing them to benefit from HD video streaming, instant photo uploads and rich content downloads.
“The much awaited launch of Airtel 4G services fulfils a huge market requirement and will give customers in Chandigarh the power to upgrade to cutting edge 4G LTE technology - the most advanced wireless broadband experience available across the globe today,” said Jagbir Singh, CTO and director of network services group at Bharti Airtel.
“This launch is another first by Airtel that further enhances the footprint of mobile broadband in India. We are optimistic about the potential of Airtel 4G services and invite our data savvy customers in Punjab to enjoy this world class data experience”.
Airtel already provides 4G services to customers in Kolkata, Bengaluru and Pune, and is reportedly looking to roll out further networks in the country.
The launch follows a recent investigation into the country’s corrupted spectrum auction, whereby Airtel’s chairman, Sunil Mittal, was called upon to provide evidence.
