The company spent 3.2 billion rupees ($25.2 million) to secure the 4G network which is reported to be the first in the Sri Lanka.
According to the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC), Dialog Axiata outbid two local operators.
“We have auctioned 10MHz band in the 1,800 spectrum and the highest bidder was Dialog,” said Anusha Palpita, director general at TRC.
The TRC auctioned the 4G spectrum for an initial price of 800 million rupees.
Etisalat and Alcatel-Lucent partnered in February, and also intend to roll out 4G services in Sri Lanka.
