The service is expected to deliver download speeds up to 10 times faster than the 3G service, as well as low-latency technology to improve mobile gaming services for customers.
“For many consumers, especially rural residents with access to only satellite and dial-up broadband service, 4G LTE service provides a high speed internet access that fits their needs and provides fast Internet speeds like those available in larger cities,” said Brad McLean, regional director of external affairs at AT&T Kentucky.
“For consumers living in suburban and urban areas with more high speed broadband service options, 4G LTE affords new competitive high speed broadband choices.”
This week the service has been rolled out to the following cities:
• Frankfort, KY
• McMinnville, TN
• Cookeville, TN
• Huntington, WV
• Ashland, KY
• Aberdeen, MD
• VIeques, PR
• Monroeville and Evergreen, AL
• Saginaw and Bay City, MI
• Beeville, TX
The 4G service is also designed to make better and more efficient use of spectrum by creating more space to carry data traffic and services.
In February this year, AT&T announced a partnership with General Motors to introduce 4G connected cars to the market.
