Airtel reached the shortlist, consisting of 12 global operators to acquire the licence in Myanmar – the world’s largest remaining untapped telecoms market.
Regulator opened up the market early this year and invited companies to bid for mobile licences in the country.
Vodafone and China Mobile rocked the bidding process last week by announcing the partnership was pulling out of the running after claiming conditions set by the country was not suitable for the partnership to operate there.
