The deal also ensures that the reach and capacity of EdgeCast’s global network connects directly into the country.
HiNet said it will use EdgeCast technology to build a high-performance CDN within Taiwan, to provide caching, streaming, acceleration and security services to the country’s media and content providers.
The CDN will directly connect to EdgeCast’s global network and to users within HiNet’s operating regions, further improving global performance for the company’s customers and aiding the development of technologies in Taiwan.
“EdgeCast’s commitment to performance made them the best partner for us, as we see massive demand for improved site performance and media delivery to Taiwan and around the world,” said Fu-Kuei Chung, president of HiNet.
EdgeCast was chosen as HiNet’s partner after an extensive assessment of the leaders in the CDN marketplace.
“Not only is this deal great for HiNet, but it is a huge strategic boost for EdgeCast as well – no other CDN will have the capabilities that we have in this critically important market,” added James Segil, co-founder and president of EdgeCast Networks.
