According to local Chinese newspaper sources, the company is looking to offer informational technology services to European businesses, with an expected turnover of $1 billion in the next three to five years.
Patrick Zhang, president of marketing and solutions at Huawei, said Europe offered more growth potential the US, with Huawei’s troubles over operating in the US showing no signs of resolution.
According to a US congressional report last year, Huawei poses a security threat and was blocked from operating in the market.
Huawei is strategising for expansion in Europe, despite the fact that the European Commission has claimed Huawei and Chinese rival ZTE have been anti-competitive in the market.
“Our expansion progress in Europe is different from that in the US, where we have encountered access difficulties due to some groundless reasons given by the American side," said Zhang.
In 2012, the company reported revenues of $35 billion.
