Germany-based DE-CIX manages UAE-IX and the deal represents a major coup for cloud and connectivity provider Orixcom.
As part of the partnership, Orixcom is intending to offer cost-efficient peering services for customers with sub-rate traffic levels to expand their networks in a cost-effective way.
This means companies can enable direct connection to UAE-IX on a 100Mbps connection instead of committing to implement a 1GE or a 10GE port.
Orixcom, which launched at Capacity Middle East this year, claims to offer a one-stop shop solution to UAE-IX for customers with low traffic and capacity requirements and provides access to the largest peering platform in the Middle East. It also enables increased IP quality through a single partner.
Andrew Grenville, who founded the company, told Capacity that he was a strong believer in open connectivity, and was pleased that companies of any size could now access the Middle East and Africa.
“Orixcom is enabling its customers to be part of the transformation of the UAE into an international digital hub,” he said.
Harald Summa, CEO of DE-CIX, said he hoped the partnership will attract additional new customers to UAE-IX.
“The signing of this agreement marks an exciting stage in the growth of UAE-IX,” he added.
