EXFO’s NQMS will replace Geo’s existing remote fibre test system (RFTS), and is designed to centrally manage its national optical-fibre network.
The NQMS will deliver enhanced monitoring, testing and reporting functionalities and Graham Leach, COO at Geo Networks, said that although the RFTS was a “pretty robust” system, a need was arising for a more-developed solution.
“With the continual growth of our physical infrastructure, including our new subsea cable routes between the UK and Ireland, and our commitment to delivering against our aggressive fibre fix SLAs, we decided it was time to invest in a more sophisticated solution.”
EXFO’s solution will also allow Geo’s strategic service partner, Magdalene, to monitor and analyse Geo’s customer’s fibre, as well as key dark fibres across the network.
Jon Bradley, VP of sales in the EMEA region at EXFO, said: “NQMS’s flexibility allows Geo to continue using its current mapping solution, but it could ‘retro-upgrade’ in the future, should it decide to move to a third-party application, thus future-proofing its system.”
In October this year, Geo Networks deployed an express fibre route in the UK between the City of London and Docklands Telehouses.
