Infinera will deploy its DTN-X packet optical transport network platform across the AJC submarine network, in a bid to increase its capacity and deliver 10, 40 and 100GbE services.
Run by a consortium including Telstra, AT&T, NTT, Verizon and SoftBank, AJC is a 12,700km fibre-optic cable network with landing points in Australia, Guam and Japan.
"To meet the growing bandwidth needs of carrier, enterprise and ISP customers, AJC is significantly increasing the capacity of our network," said Philip Murphy, head of engineering at AJC.
"We selected an Infinera intelligent transport network because it allowed us to scale capacity while simplifying operations.”
Infinera’s DTN-X platform features long-haul super-channels capable of supporting up to 500Gbps on a single line card, as well as the ability to support 1Tbps super-channel line cards for future scalability.

In October last year, Russia’s Rostelecom deployed Infinera’s DTN-X platform to extend its IP network reach in the country.
