The two companies today announced the signing of a network agreement for the installation of Akamai servers in TTK’s Moscow node, with the aim of lowering latency on the service.
Akamai servers will also be installed in key locations on TTK’s fibre network, with further plans to set up the service in other provinces across Russia.
“Our partnership with Akamai, one of the largest cloud Infrastructure providers that optimises and delivers the content of major global content providers, will make it possible to increase the quality of service for end users and offload the traffic on TTK’s backbone network to the company’s long-distance nodes,” said Vitaly Kotov, TTK VP of the backbone unit.
Akamai has deployed over 140,000 servers in over 90 countries.
“We are excited to partner with TTK, one of the top Russian telecommunications operators, to jointly deliver the Web's most popular content at exceptional speed and also radically improve the user experience for many Russian customers,” Sabine Sitterli, senior director networks at Akamai said.
