The venture is designed to provide network services to the region, and, under the terms of the agreement, it will be the exclusive provider of network applications and services (NAS) in Indonesia for both companies.
Brendon Riley, group executive of global enterprise and services at Telstra, expects the proposed idea to accelerate the company’s growth in the region, as well as better serve the Indonesian marketplace.
“Our plan is to provide enhanced consistency of services for companies connecting with Indonesia and operating in the region,” Riley said.
“Indonesia is a fast-growing NAS market and we believe the best way to make inroads is by partnering with a well-recognised and respected local player.”
Telstra and Telkom Indonesia hope the venture will leverage the strengths of both companies to create new capabilities for the Indonesian market, allowing businesses to be agile, productive and secure.
“We are bringing the proven ICT NAS solutions to Indonesia to help businesses to be more productive and competitive, to support them locally and into the region,” said Pak Indra Utoyo, chief strategy and innovation officer at Telkom Indonesia.
The two companies are now working on expanding their NAS portfolio, and Riley said that they have been working on expanding their managed network and security services, and cloud and unified communications services into international markets.
“[Earlier this week] we also increased our global MPLS network reach in western Europe and America with the launch of new PoPs, which addresses increasing customer demand for connectivity into Asia-Pacific,” Riley added.
