Bill Morrow is leaving his position as CEO of Vodafone Hutchison Australia to head up the NBN Co. and Berroeta will succeed him on March 1 this year.
Berroeta has been president and CEO of Vodafone Romania since 2010, overseeing the acquisition of a 15-year spectrum licence and establishing the company as the first mobile carrier in the country to offer LTE services.
“Inaki is a great fit for the local team and his diverse background places him well to take Vodafone through to the next phase of its three year turnaround,” said Morrow.
“His appointment demonstrates Vodafone Group’s and Hutchison Whampoa’s commitment to developing talent globally and to putting the right people in the right places.”
Berroeta has 20 years experience in the telecoms industry and has held senior roles at Vodafone Malta and Vodafone Spain amongst others.
Morrow has been head of Vodafone Hutchison Australia since early 2012 and will remain at the company until the end of March.
