The operator already offers 4G roaming on its own networks in Greece, Italy, Portugal, Romania and Spain and it will launch 4G roaming in Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa and the UK.
Vodafone announced that by the summer, customers will be able to use 4G networks of other telecoms companies in Austria, Belgium, France, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and Switzerland too.
“[4G is] much faster, simpler to use and often less expensive than typical, hotel Wifi connections anywhere in Europe,” said Paolo Bertoluzzo chief commercial and operations officer at Vodafone Group.
“4G roaming will give our customers high-speed connections for video, music streaming, web surfing, working and much more anywhere, from the airport to the café.”
The operator has said the service will not cost more than the 3G roaming.
The announcement follows the news that Vodafone has accused Telefónica of using its position in Spain to try and reduce competition in the county according to Reuters.
