The carrier’s network expansion will see it offer internet protocol, Ethernet, international voice and IPX-based services.

The partnership allows TeliaSonera to utilise Oman’s strategic location as a landing point for ten regional cable systems, to meet growing customer demands for high performance connectivity.
“Oman’s geographical advantage being a natural hub enabled Omantel to become as a key interconnection point for international carriers,” said Amer Al Rawas, CEO of Omantel.
In September last year the Omani government announced plans to sell a 19% stake in Omantel.
