AT&T Drive is a modular, global automotive platform designed to develop LTE-connected car services, and Jasper Wireless will deliver its Connected Car Cloud solution to power several in-car functions.
“Jasper has a longstanding relationship with AT&T for connected devices and is recognised as the first choice for enterprises entering the Internet of Things,” said Chris Penrose, SVP of emerging devices at AT&T Mobility.
“Working with automakers, we’re focussed on delivering the very best in-car experience for both the driver and passengers, and we’re pleased to be using Jasper’s platform to help provide this to our customers.”
Jasper’s solution is exclusive to AT&T in the US and is expected to enhance safety, security, product quality and entertainment technology in the connected car.
AT&T Drive will also benefit from a global SIM, split billing, third-party rating and automated lifecycle management as a result of the partnership.
“The ‘Connected Car’ is about the complete on-board experience, not just the fancy gadgets – it’s about the bringing together everything from diagnostics, safety and security to infotainment, apps and WIfi hotspot services in a way that is right for this specific environment,” said Cindy Patterson, CRO at Jasper.
“We’re excited to be part of AT&T’s ambitions to showcase these new end-to-end solutions for automotive manufacturers around the world and to become a leading carrier for connected car innovation in the world,” she added.
In December last year, Jasper Wireless signed an agreement with Tele2 AB for the delivery of global M2M services.
