TeliaSonera International Carrier (TSIC) has today revealed a partnership with Qatari operator Ooredoo to develop a PoP in Doha, the country’s capital.
The PoP will expand TeliaSonera’s global footprint in the Middle East and is expected to answer the growing demands for high-performance connectivity in the region.
“We have worked with Middle Eastern operators for many years and continue to build on our position as one of the leading providers of connectivity to the region,” said Brendan Ives, president of TeliaSonera International Carrier (TSIC).
“Our partnership with Ooredoo will further enhance our ability to meet growing demands for premium-quality connectivity across a wide range of services,” he added.
The PoP will be operated and managed by Ooredoo in Doha, and will enable the Qatari operator to offer a one-stop solution to all regional carriers.
As well as enabling the exchange of high volumes of data traffic, the two companies expect the PoP to position Qatar as an emerging hub for telecoms infrastructure.

The Capacity Middle East 2014 conference opened today in Dubai and continues until March 5.
