Colt has been a customer of ADVA for over 15 years and the vendor’s 100G Core will enable Colt to upgrade its existing customer networks without disrupting data traffic or making additional installations.
“With the ADVA 100G Core, the team at ADVA Optical Networking has produced something that answers a definite pain point – how can I migrate to 100G without major upgrades?” said Peter Coppens, network services solution line director at Colt. “This is a question that our customers no longer have to worry about.”
ADVA’s solution has been optimised to interoperate with all major optical transport systems, and will enable Colt’s enterprise customers to scale seamlessly from 10G to 100G.
Colt’s enterprise customers comprise a number of large-scale financial, media and professional services organisations with increasing bandwidth demands.
The company is also trialling the ADVA 100G Metro solution, which is designed to provide data transport over shorter distances.
“For enterprises that require 100G technology but don’t want to make costly upgrades, then our ADVA 100G Core fits perfectly,” said Alistair Swales, SVP of sales for UK and Ireland at ADVA.
“Yet we strongly believe that every customer should be given the opportunity to access 100G. Ultimately, this is the very essence of our 100G Metro and with Colt’s trial of this technology, the UK enterprise community may soon have 100G technology for every networking need,” he added.
In April last year, European cable operator Kabel Deutschland selected ADVA’s technology for its 100G upgrade.
