Huawei Marine deployed its 100Gbps technology over two existing segments of Telkom’s submarine network – measuring 380km and 360km in length – enabling the operator to deliver increased capacity on the route.
“We are pleased to announce the successful delivery of the PT Telkom Third Route Submarine Cable System upgrade with our dedicated partner Huawei Marine,” said Telkom Indonesia’s network director. “This additional capacity on our existing network system will provide us with the ability to meet the growing international service needs within Indonesia.”
The upgrade is designed to operate seamlessly with Telkom’s existing terrestrial network, and will enable the company to implement eight 100G channels.
Together with its Dumai to Dangas submarine cable, Telkom has also created a ring architecture which will enable network restoration should a cable fail.
"Huawei Marine is thrilled to have supported Telkom Indonesia on this significant project as we continue to deliver unsurpassed technology to enrich life through communications,” said Nigel Bayliff, Huawei Marine CEO.
“With the PT Telkom third route submarine cable system upgrade, people in the region will now be able to enjoy secure and diverse connectivity at the highest-performance capacity available."
Earlier this month, Telkom Indonesia selected Alcatel-Lucent to upgrade its nationwide, terrestrial broadband network.
