Beijing Telecom will now be able to offer improved service customisation requirements, upgrade utilisation of resources and operations, and enhance network observation.
According to the two companies, the upgrade represents what it claims is the world's first SDN-based IDC network in which a commercial carrier-grade SDN is implemented.
"We are glad to cooperate with Huawei in the SDN field and successfully commercialize the technology. We hope these new services can create more value for our customers," said Xu Hong, vice general manager of Beijing Telecom.
At the same time, Beijing Telecom also unveiled a range of new IDC services based on the SDN solution. The wide range of services includes virtual resource services, assurance services and traffic reporting capabilities.
“The deployment of SDN-based IDC innovations demonstrates China Telecom's foresight in cutting-edge technologies and Huawei's strength in SDN,” said Zha Jun, president of Huawei's fixed network business unit.
“As a leader in SDN, Huawei will continue to promote SDN standardisation and commercialisation to help operators excel in the SDN era."
