This move will allows ISPs to connect to the internet Exchanges across Europe through Viatel’s network, which includes over 120 PoPs and an 8,500km network across the continent.
The agreements will enhance peering opportunities for Viatel’s customers, and are said to lower costs, reduce latency and increase IP performance and resilience.
“Viatel’s European fibre network will give customers the opportunity to connect to the France-IX Exchange quickly and securely, and immediately peer with hundreds of ISPs. For France-IX, this partnership definitely enhances the opportunities to connect new European members whether they have a technical footprint in France or not,” commented Franck Simon, MD at France-IX.
In April, Viatel invested a reported €1.5 million in the upgrade of its network across Ireland.
