Authorities in the country are aiming to introduce a new operator to focus on 3G and 4G services in the market, in a bid to also increase investment in infrastructure.
Togo is looking to utilise telecoms to boost competition in the sector and the economy, with the country’s present mobile penetration rates standing at approximately 54%.
This falls below Africa’s regional average of approximately 75%.
It presently has two mobile operators – state-owned Togocel and Etisalat-owned Moov.
