The operator has combined two frequency bands to offer peak download and upload speeds of 225Mbps and 50Mbps respectively, to customers in Mladá Boleslav in the central Bohemian region of the Czech Republic.
“LTE-A is the next step in our ongoing efforts to offer customers the best possible mobile internet,” said Vladimir Klein, CTO at T-Mobile Czech Republic.
LTE-A allows a maximum theoretical transfer rate of 300Mbps and 50Mbps upload and download speed, Klein says, and he expects the technology to significantly improve network performance.
Asia-Pacific operator SingTel launched its LTE-A service in Singapore in June this year, also claimed to be a country first.
T-Mobile is said to be expanding its LTE network nationwide and it recently increased network speeds in Prague to offer 150/50Mbps in areas of the capital.
In May this year, T-Mobile and O2 signed an LTE network-sharing deal in the Czech Republic in a bid to accelerate the roll-out of 4G services in the country.
