The acquisition was revealed in June this year, and Telekom Austria has now finalised the acquisition from Swedish private equity house EQT for an undisclosed sum.
“The acquisition of Blizoo Macedonia represents a significant step in the execution of Telekom Austria Group’s convergence strategy, and will allow Vip Operator [Telekom Austria’s Macedonian subsidiary] to bundle fixed-line and mobile services in the future”, the company said in a recent financial report.
Vip Operator and Blizoo Macedonia will now merge, with the latter bringing 63,000 subscribers, of which 47,000 are broadband.
EQT initially intended to include Blizoo Bulgaria in the deal but this was called off in November last year after financial advisors cited “limited interest and major differences in price expectations”.
In July this year, Vip Operator launched 4G/LTE services in the country.
