Airtel-Vodafone is a mobile provider operating in the Channel Islands – rivalling players such as Jersey Telecom and Cable & Wireless – and Fowler will be responsible for introducing the company’s 4G network, as well as maintaining and developing its existing infrastructure.
With a 30-year tenure in the industry, Fowler’s CV includes roles at BT, Belgacom, Polkomtel, Huawei and Vodafone and he has previously been responsible for establishing nationwide 4G networks.
“I am delighted that we have someone of David’s calibre in this important role,” said Ian Campbell, CEO at Airtel-Vodafone.
“It is vital to our customers that the network is reliable, and he has huge experience in establishing networks that do just that.”
Fowler said it was great to be working for a global organisation with such reliable technology and experience.
“I know the Channel Islands very well and am looking forward to introducing something that will really transform the way that people access the internet,” he said.
