Hussain will report directly to Glen Post, president and CEO at CenturyLink, and will be responsible for the design and delivery of next-generation products, services and technologies critical to achieving the company’s growth strategies.
"As a global leader in network, managed hosting and cloud services, we must continue our evolution to IP-enabled network services, cloud infrastructure and hosted IT solutions,” Post said.
“Aamir's extensive knowledge of our industry, as well as his understanding of demand for solutions brought about by innovation, will help us continue to provide value to our customers, shareholders and employees.”
Prior to CenturyLink, Hussain has held senior roles at Liberty Global and Covad Communications, as well as positions at TELUS, Qwest, Samsung and Motorola.
“CenturyLink is well positioned to provide a great combination of network and cloud services to enterprise customers,” Hussain said.
“I am excited to join CenturyLink’s management team and I’m looking forward to strengthening its position as a next-generation IT services and cloud infrastructure provider.”
In January 2013, CenturyLink restructured its network services business sales and operations teams into one organisation.
