The three players said that they combined TDD and FDD LTE spectrums and aggregated 10 carriers with 200MHz bandwidth, to reach download and upload speeds capable of matching today’s user expectations.
The demonstration was supported by the Global TD-LTE Initiative (GTI) and the speeds established would enable a user to download a 5Gb HD film in 11 seconds, while simultaneously uploading a 30Mb video in under a second.
“This ground-breaking throughput is a milestone that boosts our efforts as we drive the commercialisation and globalisation of TD-LTE and TDD-FDD converged technology across the globe,” said Madam Huang Yuhong, deputy GM at China Mobile Research Institute and Secretary General of the GTI.
“In collaboration with Nokia Networks, our longstanding and trusted partner, we continue to exploit the immense capacity potential of TD-LTE.”
The trial also included Nokia’s commercial single RAN advanced hardware with its Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station, as well as LTE-A multiple input output (MIMO) technology.
“We just broke our own speed record which shows our capability to help operators address the ever-increasing demand for faster data download and upload speeds,” said Zhang Qi, VP of TD-LTE at Nokia Networks.
“TDD-FDD LTE not only delivers high uplink and downlink throughput, but also helps balance the load between two networks, efficiently using the spectrum.”
