The solution is designed to provide centralised control and automated management of clock synchronisation networks, and further promotes the commercialisation of SDN technology.

“The ability to intelligently manage the clock network through centralised control makes the Huawei software-define clock network solution highly efficient, agile and reliable.”
The two firms have worked to develop a solution that can plan a clock network with tens of thousands of nodes in mere minutes; allegedly also guaranteeing that synchronisation loops will not occur.
The solution also provides performance monitoring, fast assessment, intelligent optimisation and trouble-shooting.
“By applying SDN technology to the mobile backhaul, the Huawei software-defined clock network solution creatively resolves the difficulty operators face planning and managing clock networks,” said Zha Jun, president of fixed network product line at Huawei.
“As the industry’s first solution of its kind, Huawei and China Mobile are leading clock network research and innovation, and remain invested in developing SDN commercial applications and networks.”
China Mobile and Huawei claimed another industry first in February this year with an uplink carrier aggregation (CA) field test, and later in March, the pair demonstrated a Cloudified VoLTE solution.
