The agreement will provide Ooredoo Oman’s 2 million subscribers with direct access to Telenor’s global 4G networks.
Using Telenor’s Diameter Routing Agent (DRA), the move will provide coverage to 13 of Telenor’s mobile operations globally, including Thailand, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India and Myanmar.
“By their extensive experience and ability for fast deployment of services we are now able to offer high quality 4G roaming and international voice services to our subscribers, with high call quality in mind,” says Jim Maxell, chief legal, regulatory & wholesale officer in Ooredoo Oman.
The Ooredoo Group meanwhile has launched a range of services targeting SMEs across Asia and the Middle East. Following successful deployment in Qatar, the group will be offering solutions designed to help start-up businesses, including a business fibre service designed to help connect companies with higher internet speeds usually reserved for larger corporations.
“These one-stop-shop products provide convenience for small businesses and enable companies to deploy innovative solutions without requiring in-house technological expertise. We believe in liberating businesses and supporting their success with innovations that they can deploy immediately,” said Dr. Nasser Marafih, group CEO, Ooredoo.
