The fibre network is designed to be within close proximity to over 4,000 cell tower and enterprise locations in order to serve businesses located along the fibre route. The move is said to meet market and customer demand to expand its offerings closer to New York City.

“As one of the world’s leading communications markets, New York is critical to FirstLight’s growth strategy, and our expansion into Westchester, Rockland and Orange counties provides the opportunity for FirstLight to offer businesses in that area the high quality, scalable, fibre-based services they require,” he added.
The company claims that the newly constructed network – exclusive owned and operated by FirstLight – is able to support services ranging from dark fibre, ethernet and wavelength services from 10Mbps to 100Gbps as well as internet access.
With this expansion, FirstLight’s fibre optic network spans 260,000 fibre miles across five states, including New York, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont and Massachusetts, providing diverse connectivity to five FirstLight data centres in the region.
