Morche (pictured) joins Zayo from Level 3 Communications, where he was group vice president of sales, overseeing sales engineering, business operations, commercial services and metro market expansion.
He spent more than 16 years at Level 3, which is set to merge with CenturyLink, holding senior roles across product management, business development, offer management, and sales.
Prior to joining Level 3 in 2001, Morche held a number of roles at Sprint, Teleglobe and Igaea. In his new role, he will report to Crouch, who only joined Zayo himself in April.
“Zayo’s growth over the past 10 years has been impressive, and I look forward to contributing to a second decade of growth for the company,” said Morche.
“I’m excited to work with Zayo’s talented team to strengthen relationships with our growing base of global customers.”
He joins Zayo during a period of expansion for the US-based company, which completed its $1.42 billion acquisition of Electric Lightwave in March.
The acquisition added 8,100 route miles of long-haul fibre and 4,000 miles of dense metro fibre across Denver, Minneapolis, Phoenix, Portland, Seattle, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Jose, Salt Lake City, Spokane and Boise, with on-net connectivity to more than 3,100 enterprise buildings and 100 data centres.
It also acquired two new data centres in Southern California, and established a new point of presence in Paris, while it plans to deploy a new dark fibre route between Portland and Umatilla, Oregon.

I worked with Ed early in his career at Level 3, and I am excited that he will be a key member of our executive management team.”
