During his two years at Vodafone Egypt, Gastaut improved customer experience in both the consumer and enterprise sectors, successfully launched 4G and strengthened the company’s leadership position by growing revenues and improving market share from 40% to 45%.
Commenting on his new position, Gastaut said: “I am looking forward to joining this successful and dynamic team and building on the foundations created by Erik Brenneis. Undoubtedly, IoT will play a significant role in transforming many businesses globally and I am confident that Vodafone will be the first choice partner to help customers use IoT to succeed in a digital world.”
Prior to working for Vodafone Egypt, Gastaut was CEO of Vodafone’s Partner Market business and was responsible for forming strategic alliances with local mobile operators around the world.
Vodafone says that its IoT business generates more than €700 million ($825 million) in revenue, manages 62 million IoT SIMs, supporting services in over 190 countries.
“Stefano is joining our IoT business at an exciting time in its development. We believe that he will build on our leading position in IoT and open up new opportunities with customers worldwide,” added Brian Humphries, Vodafone Group enterprise director.
Ivo Rook, the former CEO of Vodafone IoT recently left the company to join Sprint as SVP of its Iot division. GTB originally broke the story back in June, but in September it was confirmed that will now be tasked with leading and building Sprint’s internet of things business, as well as acting as an advisor to parent company SoftBank.
Earlier this month, Vodafone formed a strategic partnership with SoftBank to enhance operational support for its enterprise customers operating in Japan. The agreement centres on mobile services for enterprise customers and will help enhance commercial and operational support for Vodafone’s multinational enterprise customers operating in the Asian country.
