The 2,700 km open system is a joint venture between Seaborn Networks and the Werthein Group, and offers a 4-fibre pair, 48Tbps, direct PoP-to-PoP.

ARBR will use Xtera’s submarine repeaters with hybrid EDFA-Raman design, enabling a robust optimized transmission system. When used in combination with Xtera’s Open Systems Gateway, the transmission system will enable Seaborn Networks and its customers he freedom to choose its preferred terminal supplier. All of these features, including the Power Feed Equipment, will be monitored and managed by Xtera’s Network Management Systems.
In addition to tis, the ARBR cable will enable direct onwards connectivity to New York via Seaborn’s Seabras-1 system offering a lower latency route between the commercial and financial centers of Buenos Aires, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and New York.

The ARBR is fully funded and on what the company describes an “accelerated implementation schedule” that will bring new capacity to an underserved route, as well as new connectivity to the region.
