NBN in Australia heralds a change in market focus

The Australian telecoms market will take several years to adapt to the implementation of the National Broadband Network (NBN), according to a Buddecomm report on fixed and mobile statistics in Australia.

Australian companies will need to organise their businesses to incorporate a range of infrastructure and construction initiatives, including data centres, content hosting, cloud computing, open source software, business support systems and retail.

VHA, the resulting company of the Vodafone and Hutchison Australia merger, has had a significant impact on the market. VHA has the potential to challenge both Optus and Telstra in a bid to become the largest service provider in Australia, considering Vodafone’s presence in New Zealand and other important geographical markets.
