Mobile data revenue to triple by 2015 in Peru

The increasing use of 3G services will cause revenue from mobile data to triple in Peru by 2015 according to a report from Pyramid Research.

Of all the services available on 3G, mobile data is predicted to be the fastest growing at 24.8% CAGR over the next five years, while VoIP is expected to grow at 10.9% CAGR. Pay-TV is predicted to grow at 6% CAGR due to fixed broadband, which is estimated to increase by 4.7% CAGR over five years.

The reasons put forward for this rapid growth are increased mobile penetration, the deployment of 3G networks and the reduced cost of smartphones.

At the end of 2010, revenue from the Peruvian telecoms market will be close to $3.7 billion and will continue to grow at a CAGR of 4.6% until 2015.

In correlation with the increasing use of broadband DSL, other broadband technology markets will grow as the use of dial-up internet continues to decline.
