RCS services allow users to take advantage of enriched calling that enables sharing videos, images and other multimedia during a voice call and also allows enhanced messaging capabilities to include multimedia chat and file transfer messaging. RCS services will be deployed over 3G, HSPA+ and LTE networks, with commercial launches planned in France and Spain this year.
Asia-Pacific is likely to have the largest market share of RCS subscribers, with operators in South Korea and China already successfully launching ‘RCS-like’ services (services that do not adhere to all facets of GSMA RCS specifications).
