It said the link with Telstra allows for the prioritisation of voice, data and multimedia tra c over a single converged MPLS network, scalable to meet particular needs.
“Companies are increasingly expanding their global footprint, particularly to the Asia-Pacific c region, as it leads the global business market from recession to recovery,” said Derek Reid, business manager for wholesale carrier services at Telstra International EMEA.
“Many of our wholesale customers’ end users are expanding through offshore sites, facilities and sales offices, so the need for international connectivity between sites is imperative.”
In a separate move, Virgin Media Business has said it is offering ‘carrier-grade connectivity’ to the UK data centre market by connecting its nationwide network directly into facilities, giving data centres the power to connect customers directly to services at speeds up to 10Gbps.
“As the UK’s appetite for data grows and cloud computing gains momentum, so the pressures on data centre providers increase,” said Andrew McGrath, executive director of Virgin Media Business. “We’re making a step change in the way high capacity connectivity is provided, giving data centres the carrier-grade connectivity they crave, regardless of where they are based in the UK.”
