Latin America has fastest growing IPTV market

Latin America will have the fastest growing subscription rate to IPTV over the next four years, according to a report from analyst firm Pyramid Research.

It predicts that the number of subscriptions in Latin America will grow at a CAGR of 55.8% until 2015. Africa and the Middle East follow closely behind with a CAGR of 49.9% until 2015.

In 2010, the number of IPTV subscribers from Latin America and Africa and the Middle East combined amounted to only 2% of the global total. By 2015, Latin America will have 3% of the global total of IPTV subscribers and Africa and the Middle East will have 2%.

IPTV subscriptions globally were predicted to reach 48.2 million in 2010, giving it a 40% increase over the number in 2009. By 2015, this figure is expected to reach 138.1 million IPTV subscriptions, showing a 23% CAGR over 2010 levels.

China is predicted to have the largest IPTV market in 2011 due to China Unicom’s projected growth and China Telecom’s success in 2010, becoming the largest IPTV operator.
