In 2010, IDC found that the market for Japanese cloud services had grown 41.9% year-on-year (YoY) reaching 44.3 billion yen ($538.59 million). It predicts the market will increase at a CAGR of 37.5% between 2009 and 2014. Between 2009 and 2014, the revenue generated by infrastructure grew from 13.1 billion yen ($159.25 million) to 57.9 billion yen ($703.89 million); the revenue generated by platform grew from 5.6 billion yen ($68.07 million) to 55.5 billion yen ($674.71 million); and the revenue from applications grew from 12.5 billion yen ($151.96 million) to 40 billion yen ($486.28 million).
The choice of cloud services for a business depends on a number of factors including workload, the business industrial sector, the systems/applications area and the appropriateness of deployment models.
