1.4 billion people globally will have access to mobile and fixed-line broadband by 2015, according to a report from Ovum.

In western Europe alone, there will be 253 million people (62% of western Europe and 18.07% of the global total) accessing fixed and mobile broadband. The broadband market is growing at such a speed that by 2015 it is estimated that 3.6 billion people, half of the global population, will have access to broadband services.

Those using both forms of broadband will be mainly in the more developed markets of North America, western Europe and Asia-Pacific. In these regions 84% will have dual access. By 2015, one billion people are expected to use mobile broadband as their only form of internet access, equating to 28% of global users. The strongest mobile broadband market in 2015 will be eastern Europe, where 38% of broadband users will be mobile only. South and central America will have 35% mobile-only users and Asia-Pacific will have 34% mobile-only users.
