Garfield will be responsible for meeting delivery targets to deploy fibre broadband. Key to her new role will be the aim to build on Openreach’s connections to four million premises and connect two-thirds of UK homes and businesses to fibre by 2015.
In her previous role Garfield was BT Group director of strategy and regulatory affairs where she was responsible for many key areas including the company’s fibre broadband strategy. Garfield is taking over the position from Steve Robertson who has headed Openreach for six years since it started in 2005.
