Ecuadorian telecoms market worth $2.8 billion by 2015

The Ecuadorian telecoms market is predicted to be worth $2.8 billion, showing a 5% CAGR compared to 2010.

Pyramid Research found that in 2010 the country’s market generated $2.2 billion, demonstrating an 8% increase over 2009. It is predicted that the market will grow by another 8% in 2011 reaching $2.4 billion by the end of the year.

Mobile data will be the fastest-growing area of the market with a CAGR of 16.6% between 2010 and 2015 but fixed-line is still going to make a strong increase over the period at a CAGR of 11.6%.

Ecuador’s largest player, Porta, a subsidiary of America Movil, reported a 10.9% year-on-year growth rate in the nine months ending September 2010. Telefonica also showed a strong increase over the same period totalling a 13.8% year-on-year growth.
