Alcatel-Lucent’s 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS) is now confirmed to be fully compliant with Russian networks and can be deployed across the country.
The increasing use of video streaming and cloud computing in the region has meant an increased pressure on service providers to meet the user demand.
“We are committed to help Russian service providers to be fully equipped to meet an explosive growth of demand in network capacity,” said Alexander Tikhonov, head of Alcatel-Lucent’s business in the CIS.
Alcatel-Lucent’s latest product meets requirements for higher network speeds for network operators and corporate customers. The network is compatible with lower 10G and 40G optical channels allowing the networks to upgrade.
Dana A. Cooperson VP, network infrastructure at Ovum said: "This gives Alacatel-Lucent's sales force the approval they need to sell the product but it’s not sufficient; they will still have to sell against competitors."
