YellowSat provides internet connection for enterprise companies, governments and institutions in Africa by supplying satellite capacity and the reception equipment needed in remote locations.
The French company will be the first to use SES’s inclined orbit capacity on the NSS-703 satellite system. Inclined orbit capacity uses capabilities on a geosynchronous satellite, which follows the Earth’s rotation and is not controlled in the north-south axis to prolong its usability.
SES believes this method of connection is ideal for regions such as Africa where there is still limited or no infrastructure.
“SES is constantly exploring how we can customise our capacity to customers,” said Simon Gatty Saunt, VP sales, Europe and central Asia at SES. “By providing inclined capacity over Africa, we are catering to our customer’s demand for cost effective solutions.”
Inclined capacity would normally require its users to buy an auto-tracked antenna but YellowSat has developed a technology to work to enable savings for the consumer.
“We have already signed a first customer in Congo-Brazzaville and look forward to help bridging the digital gap by offering our turnkey solution in other regions as well,” added Pierre Grenier, CEO at YellowSat.
