With the demand for mobile broadband continuing to rise in the country, this agreement will aid China Unicom’s subscribers in provinces including Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Fujian. The deal is designed to support faster network speeds, improve network quality and enhance performance.
“Alcatel-Lucent’s expertise in network optimisation and our leading 3G solution will enable China Unicom to deliver mobile broadband services more efficiently at a lower cost as subscriber numbers grow,” said Rajeev Singh-Molares, president of Alcatel Lucent in Asia-Pacific. “This will also support the future introduction of 4G LTE mobile broadband speeds and services.”
The agreement will see Alcatel-Lucent further expand its deployment of GSM and CDMA solutions and provide a cost effective broadband solution to meet the growing demands placed on capacity in China. China Unicom will be able to monitor and optimise network efficiency and manage its network directly.
This contract adds to the six commercial W-CDMA agreements Alcatel-Lucent has struck with a range of companies in the Asia-Pacific region.
