The Intellicentre 2 facility will be based in the Sydney suburb of North Ryde, and is designed to expand the company’s cloud services offerings by complimenting its existing data centre in the city’s Central Business District.
The facility is due to open next year and Macquarie Telecom has actively begun looking for tenants.
Aidan Tudehope, Macquarie Telecom’s managing director of hosting told iTWire: “Engineered with a focus on sustainability, security and full N+1 redundancy for all elements including power, water and data, this data centre marks a significant step forward in continuing to provide our customers with the best possible enterprise-grade data hosting and cloud services.”
The new data centre is partly supported by the New South Wales Department of Trade and Investment.
Its construction follows a busy year for Macquarie Telecom which launched its nationwide enterprise managed cloud services in January. The company is targeting the growing demand for cloud services in Australia, as it looks to build on its 30% year-on-year growth in managed infrastructure and hosting business over the last three years.
