Davis is to be replaced by Nigel Stagg who is MD of BT Business, the company’s SME division.
Davis has cited personal reasons for leaving but will stay on until the end of October to effectively hand over her duties to Stagg.
"Sally has been a key member of our executive team and so I very much regret her departure,” said BT chief executive Ian Livingston. “She has competing demands on her time however and so I fully respect her decision and would like to thank her for all she has done for BT.”
Under Davis’s leadership, BT Wholesale built up its managed network services business for fixed and mobile communications providers. Stagg will now be responsible for continuing Davis’s legacy and maintaining the business’s revenue streams, which, last year, earned £4.2 billion.
“BT Wholesale is at the heart of BT underpinning many of the services that businesses and residential users take for granted,” commented Stagg. “It is a very large business with revenues of more than four billion pounds a year and it supports many of the largest telecoms providers in the UK, including the major mobile companies.”
Stagg will start in his new position as chief executive in September.
